Stolen Vehicle Recovery in Ghana

Tracing Stolen Vehicles in Ghana.

If your vehicle has been stolen and is discovered or located in Ghana, the first essential step is to ensure that your local police agency has sent, or will send, an Interpol notice to the Interpol NCB in Ghana. Digitpol offers comprehensive services, including tracing, legal support, repatriation, and the most challenging aspect—on-the-ground assistance to locate and secure the vehicle for police seizure. Given the global issue of stolen vehicles being trafficked to West Africa, particularly Ghana, Digitpol's Stolen Vehicle Investigation Unit has deployed a specialized SIU unit to operate in West Africa, focusing on tracing and recovering these vehicles. Digitpol has successfully recovered vehicles from West Africa, and by following this proven approach, any vehicle can be reclaimed. In Ghana, the authorities are eager and prepared to assist. As long as ownership is clear and the correct documentation is provided to us, we will recover your vehicle.

Seizure

The initial step is to locate the stolen vehicle and ensure it is seized. This process involves coordination between the police and the relevant Interpol NCBs. Once the vehicle is located and seized, it will be secured and transported to a police station.

The Legal Challenge

To establish ownership, a lawyer is retained immediately after the seizure, as proof of ownership documents must be presented in court to successfully claim the vehicle and obtain a release order from the court.

Repatriation

After the vehicle is released by the court, Digitpol arranges for its transport from police custody to the port, where it is loaded into a container. This process requires several documents, including customs clearance.
