Penetration Testing of the Connected Vehicle

Connected Car Security is a branch of vehicle forensics relating to recovery of digital evidence or data stored in cloud servers that connect to automotive modules and connected car applications, forensic analysis of the connected car consists of analysing data related to vulnerabilities, acquiring access logs to vehicle Gateway or Command units, CAN BUS logs, and  data from Vehicle Cloud Servers, such data can be recovered from both vehicle and cloud servers under forensically sound conditions.

Penetration Testing of the Connected Vehicle

Digitpol’s Connected Car experts are specialised in CAN BUS networks and automotive operation systems, our team conducts penetration testing for vehicle manufactures at both connectivity levels, OT and CAN BUS. We are experts in examination of CAN BUS gateways and manipulations.

We conduct forensic analysis on automotive systems. We specialize in the examination of ECU's. Clusters, Keys and built-in OEM GPS Satellite Navigation systems, known as Infotainment or Telematics systems. Our forensic team has been conducting research on automotive systems since 2009. Together with system manufactures, we have built a solid and robust method to recover forensic data from all vehicle modules. We recover identification data, crash data, historic faults and errors from all types of vehicles. We examine vehicles on-site or at our forensic laboratory.

Our Expertise

Infotainment Forensics

We conduct forensic analysis on automotive GPS systems for Law Enforcement Agencies and testing for OEM’s. We specialise in the examination of built-in OEM GPS Satellite Navigation systems, known as Infotainment or Telematics systems. Our forensic team has been conducting research since 2009 on the investigative techniques to aquire forensics data from embedded vehicle GPS systems. Together with system manufactueres we have built a solid and robust method to recover forensic data.

ECU Identification

On behalf of LEA and Insurance firms, our SMV team have capabilities to recover deleted forensic from coded parts. We can recover deleted KM, VIN and Serial numbers from flash and memory chips using a method known as chip-off forensics.

  • Chip-off forensics
  • Recovered Identities
  • Recovered Deleted Data
  • Recovered KM data
Crash Data Recovery

We specialise in Digital Investigation of Motor Insurance Fraud. We are experts in the analysis of “staged collisions” where a vehicle has been reported however the collision never happened. We deploy digital forensic methods to undercover the traces stored in vehicle modules. We recover the last events such as any collisions and can identify the vehicles engine temperature at the time of the collision, the KM reading and the time and date the collision took place. These parameters often assist claims handlers to solve or verify claims. In some cases a fraudulent claim can be detected.
