Android Forensics

Android forensics is a specialised area of mobile device forensics focused on the identification, acquisition, preservation, and analysis of digital evidence from devices running the Android operating system while maintaining forensic integrity. Although the term mobile device is commonly associated with smartphones, it also encompasses other digital devices with internal storage and communication capabilities, such as tablets, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and GPS units.

Mobile devices have become critical sources of evidence in many investigations. In both criminal and civil proceedings, valuable information can often be recovered from smartphones and other smart devices. Analysis of stored data may reveal important evidence, leads, and activity records, including contact information, timestamps showing when contacts were created, call histories, and details regarding the frequency and timing of communications with specific phone numbers.
